Overview
Explore the physical processes that shape our planet, from environmental change and natural hazards to ecosystems and landscapes. In your first year, you'll study both physical and human geography while developing the practical, analytical and fieldwork skills needed to investigate the world's most pressing environmental challenges. As you progress through the course, you'll increasingly focus on the scientific study of the natural environment, using data, fieldwork and geospatial technologies to understand how landscapes, ecosystems and environmental systems change over time. You'll also have the opportunity to continue to explore the human dimensions of geographical issues, developing a well-rounded perspective on the world around you. With optional modules covering topics such as geohazards, environmental change, cities and regions, and Advanced GIS, you can shape your degree around the subjects that inspire you most. Choose to put your learning into practice through real consultancy projects or gain valuable teaching experience in schools. You can also add a Placement Year or Study Abroad year, enhancing your employability and broadening your horizons before you graduate. Fieldwork is at the heart of studying Geography at Hull, giving you the opportunity to apply your learning in real-world environments. From local day trips to residential field courses in the UK and overseas, you'll gain hands-on experience of the landscapes, communities and challenges you study. Previous field trip destinations have included Almería in southern Spain, Tenerife and Iceland¹, helping you develop practical skills while exploring a diverse range of geographical settings. All core field trips are included in your course fees, so you can focus on making the most of every experience. Start a field trip that never ends
