Postgraduate Certificate - Foundations in Clinical Psychology This postgraduate certificate offers Psychology graduates an applied introduction to clinical psychology. Developed in collaboration with practicing clinical psychologists and academic staff at Queen’s University Belfast, the programme is designed to deepen students’ understanding of how psychological theory is applied in health and social care settings, while also supporting the development of core therapeutic and professional practice skills. Graduates of this programme will: • Develop and demonstrate foundational skills in psychological assessment and formulation • Identify appropriate intervention goals and strategies that are informed by psychological theory, individual needs, and the service context • Develop knowledge of therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and systemic approaches • Understand the challenges and responsibilities involved in providing psychological care within health and social care services • Recognise the importance of team dynamics and broader systemic factors in effective service delivery Important Information: • Application deadline: 31 July 2026. Late applications will not be accepted. • Due to anticipated high demand, early application is strongly recommended. • Please note: This is an introductory course for psychology graduates to the field of clinical psychology. It is not a professional training programme and does not confer eligibility to register or practise as a clinical psychologist or as any other applied psychologist.
