Overview
This distance-learning PG module, with a face-to-face assessment, is the first of three Independent Prescribing (IP) modules. Students must complete this module before taking OVM058 or OVM053.
Entry requirements
The course is for GOC-registered optometrists. Optometrists wishing to become Independent Prescribers are required to complete this course, as well as Principles of Prescribing OVM058 and Independent Prescribing OVM053 (in any order). The course is also useful to optometrists wishing to expand their knowledge of eye disease and differential diagnosis. All teaching is provided online. Asynchronous distance-based learning is supported with optional web-based tutorials. Three synchronous teaching days will be delivered via live online teaching sessions. All assessments require in-person attendance at City St Georges, Clerkenwell campus.
