Eligibility

You must: be a resident of a country within South Asia, South East Asia or Africa; hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) for a master’s level (taught) full-time course – within the Faculty of Science and Engineering; have completed an English language qualification to the required standard for the course; be fully registered for your chosen course by the registration deadline; hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum classification of Upper Second class (2:1 or international equivalent), or be on track to achieve this; be self funding (for example, not sponsored) your course and classified as an international candidate for tuition fee purposes.

This scholarship is open to applicants who hold an offer from Manchester for postgraduate (taught master's) programmes. Evaluation will be based on academic merit. All offer-holders who meet our criteria will be granted a scholarship in the form of a tuition fee discount. To be eligible for a Manchester Humanities International Excellence Scholarship, you must: be domiciled in one of the countries listed below; hold an offer to study with us on an eligible programme; meet or exceed specified academic entry criteria for the programme applied to; be self-funded (not sponsored). Eligibility

The Ted and Pat Smith Scholarship is a merit-based award available to students who are: entering Year 1 of a science or engineering degree; from widening participation backgrounds. Each recipient will receive an annual scholarship of £2,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study (not including a placement/study abroad year). There are up to eight scholarships available for entry in September 2026. Students within the Department of Materials are given preference in selection and allocation. Scholarship holders will receive the scholarship annually, subject to satisfactory academic progress and performance.
