The University of Southampton is a public research university located in Southampton, Hampshire, England. This institute is a founding member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities in the UK.
Extended Overview
The University of Southampton has seven campuses in the UK, with its main campus in the Highfield area of Southampton, along with four other campuses within the city. Each campus has its own library.
It is packed with more than 26,000 students, of whom more than 10,000 are international students hailing from 130 different countries. In terms of student population, this institute takes great pride in being the largest university in the South East region.
With more than 245 undergraduate degrees, 220 postgraduate degrees, a great community, and a wide range of international scholarships, this university is a perfect place for any aspiring student. It was the first university in the UK to be awarded a license to set up a campus in India in 2024.

History
The roots of the University of Southampton can be traced back to 1862 with the establishment of the Hartley Institution. After experiencing financial difficulties in the early years, the Hartley Institute became Hartley College in 1883.
In 1902, the Hartley College became the Hartley University College, which was a degree-awarding branch of the University of London. In 1952, it was granted university status by Queen Elizabeth II and became the University of Southampton.
