History
In 2003, there were concerns about establishing a university in Suffolk, as it was the largest English county that didn’t have a university. In 2004, Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk County Council made funding pledges to establish a new educational institute.
This plan received further backing in 2005, with £15 million allocated by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and a £12.5 million grant from the East of England Development Agency in 2006.
In 2007, the institution was formally formed as 'University Campus Suffolk.' In 2015, the institution was granted degree-awarding powers, and in 2016, it was awarded university status and became the University of Suffolk.
