Overview
Applied Special Educational Needs And Disability (Top-up) is a one-year course - designed to top up to a full degree and prepares you to develop your career within SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) settings.
Through your personal experience of working with children, you will build your knowledge of contemporary theories, policies, and practices in SEND.
Objectives
- Develop capacity to evaluate, analyse and critically engage in the field of SEND.
- Learn about examples of SEN, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and communication difficulties.
- Gain knowledge on the four broad areas of SEN: communication, cognition, social, mental, and emotional health.
- Develop knowledge, understanding, and skills that are essential for planning and delivering education to meet the needs of special children.
- Grow ability to analyse and evaluate the impact of national and international policy on special and inclusive education.

- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent)
- A foundation degree
