Overview
How did the United States go from being a colony to global superpower? Our BA American History degree examines this journey. You’ll explore settlement, Revolution, slavery, Civil War, and conquest of the West. You’ll delve into politics, the Cold War, civil rights, and foreign relations. UEA is home to one of the most established and highly regarded departments in the UK. American history has been taught here for over half of a century. You’ll learn with experts doing world-leading research on U.S. history and politics. You can also shape your degree to respond to your interests, from foreign affairs to politics to race to gender. In the third year, you’ll get to experience the U.S. first-hand. You’ll spend the entire year learning at an American university. You can also add a comparative dimension by studying in Canada. Or you could split the year with one semester in the U.S. and the other in Australia, New Zealand, or Hong Kong.
