Overview
Our bioinformatics research integrates cutting-edge computational approaches to data-generation and analysis in the biosciences to address global challenges that affect us all. Developed with industry input, it builds on our strengths as a world class research institute, targeting critical skill gaps in data analysis and machine-based learning and preparing researchers for impactful careers in academia, healthcare, and the biotechnology sector. TheInstitute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology (ISMIB)was established to integrate cutting-edge and clinical research across theFaculty of Health and Life Sciences. Programmes of work across ISMIB are varied and are led by world experts in their fields. Our integration of biochemical research with systems-based studies, including data-driven multi-omics, data analysis, structural biology, synthetic biology, and artificial intelligence, makes us a global leader. This is further supported by top-tiershared research facilitiesand our commitment to sharing discoveries. We offer intensive PhD programmes with exposure to diverse technologies in biotechnology. Research is multidisciplinary, with strong collaborations across the Institute and wider University, spanning physical, chemical, and clinical sciences. Our PhD programmes are supported by world-class facilities, including theCentre for Genomic Research,Centre for Proteome Research,Centre for Metabolomics Research, andComputational Biology Facility. Topics related to bioinformatics include:
