Overview
Provide help, care, and compassion for those who need it most Adult Nursing BSc will give you the skills, confidence and professional experience needed to be an effective healthcare worker, helping you to apply the foundations of expert care in all adult nursing settings. “I chose LSBU because several people close to me such as my cousin, uncle, and a friend studied there and spoke so highly about their experiences. They shared how supportive and approachable the staff were, and how LSBU truly cares about each student’s success. Their recommendations made me confident that LSBU would be the perfect place for me to begin my nursing journey.” Mathursika Kannathasan BSc Adult Nursing. You will learn from experienced nursing professionals who will help you put theory into practice, splitting your time equally between learning on campus and in clinic settings. Through our professional connections and partnerships, there is the opportunity to train with community-focused initiatives, independent and voluntary organisations, or an NHS Trust, who will host you for clinical placement portion of your degree. This course combines the integration of face-to-face teaching with some sessions online. You will be learning by being in immersive clinical scenarios using advanced mannequins and simulated wards in smaller groups. The tutor-facilitated sessions are focussed on real-world patient cases to develop critical thinking. Your time will be split between real clinical placements and learning in brand new on-campus clinical wards and laboratories, fully equipped with the latest technology. To give you as much confidence as possible we design our teaching labs to mimic real hospital wards and care environments, helping you seamlessly apply nursing skills to genuine patients. Above all though you will learn to effectively listen to patients, helping you to provide care with empathy, compassion, and effectiveness. Adult Specialism As a leading university for Adult Nursing in the UK, we are continually developing our opportunities in response to the changing needs of health care. One such initiative is that we offer a community- based placement pathway, supported by Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH). Who would suit this course? Nurses need a wide range of practical and professional skills, as well as the ability to be able to communicate with a diverse range of service users. This course suits those who are engaged with learning and want to learn about health and nursing through various lenses. If you are compassionate and resilient with strong communication skills, this is the course for you. “LSBU’s values of inclusivity, diversity, and widening participation resonated deeply with me. Nursing, as a profession, is fundamentally about equity, respect, and care for people from all occupations. Seeing a university that mirrors these values made me confident that I would be studying in an environment that embraces differences while promoting fairness and mutual respect.” Adanma Ndubueze, Adult Nursing student. Your Choice of Campus This course is currently available to study at our Southwark campus in Central London, or at our newest Campus in Croydon. It is a fantastic opportunity to experience a new building with state of the art facilities whilst completing your programme.
