Overview
Occupational therapists help people undertake the 'occupations' they want or need to do. An occupation is any type of meaningful activity we do in our everyday lives. This includes going to work, leisure activities, and looking after ourselves. A condition, illness, injury, ability, or state of mind can affect how we take part in activities. Occupational therapists help by modifying these activities. They can teach new skills or strategies, adapt the environment, or use a combination of these. Our Patient, Carer and Public Involvement (PCPI) participants are integral to the course. Our PCPIs can share their lived experiences of health and social care services with you. They'll contribute to your learning through assessment and feedback in a safe environment. This will develop your confidence and competence before you begin your placement.
