Overview
Chemistry is a core science subject that touches almost every aspect of our daily lives and will become increasingly important in our future knowledge-based society. Chemists develop life-saving drugs, medical devices, materials and sensors that can enhance our quality of life and environment beyond measure. On our Chemistry courses you will build a deep understanding of chemical principles, from molecular structure and reaction mechanisms to analytical and practical laboratory skills, giving you a solid foundation in both theoretical and experimental chemistry. You will also gain transferrable problem-solving, quantitative and research skills that are valuable for careers in science, industry, education, or further studies. Four-year MChem degrees and five-year MChem (with a Year in Industry) degrees are available for high-calibre students with the ability and aspiration to practice Chemistry at the highest levels. BSc students with excellent performance may transfer to the MChem up to the end of Stage 3.
