Overview
This Emergency Trauma Care neurology course is for registered nurses working in Major Trauma Centres and Trauma Units that are directly involved in the emergency care of polytrauma patients.
Entry requirements
This course is for registered nurses working in a Trauma Unit or Major Trauma Centre in within the South West London and Surrey Trauma Network. This course runs over four months with various start dates. The course uses a blended learning approach with the teaching content being online with two face to face onsite days. The participants will independently work through the online course content over a set period. The theoretical component of the course will be delivered on Canvas using a variety of teaching resources (reading, listening and watching) to support knowledge acquisition. On the completion of the self-directed study students will need to pass the consolidation quiz. On successful completion of the theoretical component, the participants will be invited to attend two on-site days to enable them to develop and practice clinical skills and be summatively assessed through an Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE), this is a pass/fail assessment which fulfils the Level 2 NMTNG educational standard.
