Overview
Prescribing by non-medical practitioners has expanded and become embedded in health and care systems. Since its introduction, the qualification has facilitated the development of new roles for nurses, midwives, and eligible allied health professionals, which benefit both service delivery and service users. For practitioners, it offers the opportunity to develop genuine autonomy in a range of interesting and varied roles. It will also allow you to work with appropriate prescribers in a supplementary prescribing arrangement, prescribing medicines that form part of an identified/agreed Clinical Management Plan (CMP). You can either undertake the programme as a standalone qualification or as part of our MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: Individual Modules Independent/Supplementary Prescribing for Allied Health Professionals L7
Entry requirements
You must be: Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) in a profession eligible to prescribe. You must also be working in a role where prescribing is considered to benefit the service user/service delivery. You must have a minimum of 3 years post registration experience. You will have proven assessment and diagnostic skills and be supported by your employer to undertake the qualification Able to commit to 100% attendance for the taught element of the programme.
