Overview

Our Law and Practice LLB(Hons) course prepares you for an exciting career in legal practice, with special emphasis on getting you ready to take the new Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE1). Whether your aim is to become a solicitor or to work in industry, this course will ensure you stand out. This course is designed to develop your skills in advocacy, legal drafting, and legal research, allowing you to develop competences which are required to be a solicitor. You’ll also gain a host of transferrable skills, such as: Our flexible course structures mean that you can wait until the end of Year 2 to decide whether you want to take an academic route and enrol onto our LLB (Hons) Law or one of our practice-focused courses, or Master’s in Law and Practice. In the National Student Survey 2025, Law is ranked top in Yorkshire for learning opportunities. Employability skills are embedded within our curriculum. Plus, a range of extra curriculum activities are on offer which will support you to enhance your skills further. These skills are desirable to employers in both legal and non-legal sectors. You can also benefit from hands-on experience at the Legal Advice Centre too.
