The town of Huddersfield has different kinds of transportation options available for residing students. There are buses as public transport that connect the town centre to the University of Huddersfield and surrounding areas.

The bus station is located in Upperhead Row, and many routes pass through the town centre. You can also travel to cities, like Manchester or Sheffield easily with buses travelling every hour.

There are train services that run through the town. Huddersfield railway station provides everyday travel to major major cities and beyond. This station is only 10 min walk from the University campus.

There are many benefits to using public transport being a student of University of Huddersfield. Firstly, using public transport is more affordable than buying and maintaining a car in the UK.

Secondly, every student can enjoy travel discounts on public buses by showing their student pass while travelling. There are plenty of taxis available throughout the town, especially near the train station and city centre areas, if you require a more private form of transportation.

The University suggests the Storthes Hall Park Student Village and the Ashenhurst Student Houses, both of which are owned and operated privately. Storthes Hall is located in Parkland to the south of town, and it was built with first-year students in mind.
