Highlights: A foundation year which prepares you for degree-level Music study, developing essential academic skills. You can choose from a range of optional modules in music, culture and beyond. Rehearse, perform and enjoy field trips, for example to concerts, record companies and music publishers. Staff are world-leading experts in early, contemporary, classical, popular and Welsh music, critical editing of music, composition (acoustic and acousmatic), sonic arts, contemporary and interactive performance. Our music facilities include practice facilities, studios, and incredible spaces to participate and attend music and performances. You will perform in and attend events at public venues, including: Pontio, Prichard Jones Hall and Powis Hall. Course Overview: Our BMus (Hons) Music with Foundation Year provides an alternative route into undergraduate study if you don’t have the necessary qualifications or cannot meet the entry requirements to begin the standard three-year degree. The additional foundation year helps you better prepare for degree-level study, giving you a taste of learning at this higher level. During the foundation year you will develop your academic skills and be introduced to studies in the wider arts and humanities. On successful completion of your Foundation Year, you can progress to Year 1 of the BMus (Hons) Music. At Bangor University, making music and understanding music go hand in hand. You will be taught by world-renowned composers, performers and musicologists, who will encourage you to explore the connections between all three fundamental aspects of musical study and how they relate to wider culture and society. You can explore the history and development of your favourite genres, discover new styles and repertoires, and learn more about the art and craft of music. Taking part in regular workshops, guest talks, performances and concerts will improve your skills as a musician, performer, composer or musicologist. This exciting opportunity allows you to spend a year working with a self-sourced, professional organisation relevant to your studies.
