Overview
This Postgraduate Certificate provides a comprehensive grounding in the science and clinical practice of perioperative nursing across the surgical pathway. Students examine the physiological responses to anaesthesia and surgery, the impact of co-morbidities, and the psychological, sociological and professional factors influencing perioperative care. The programme integrates theory with supervised clinical experience to build advanced skills in assessment, patient optimisation, safety, teamwork, communication and evidence-informed intraoperative and postoperative management. It is ideal for nurses working in theatres or perioperative environments who wish to strengthen competence, leadership and the ability to deliver high-quality surgical care.
