Overview
The PGCE Further Education and Skills (FES) prepares you to teach learners aged 16+ and adults in the Further Education (FE) sector. This course is ideal for graduates with degrees from a wide range of subjects – including those not widely taught in secondary schools, like sports science, health and social care, psychology, performing arts, and law. You'll learn from a research-active academic team and complete two teaching placements in FE settings. These placements give you valuable, real-world experience designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating teaching and learning. The degree also offers the opportunity to take the Enhanced Mentoring pathway, a route accredited by the University which offers a hands-on, fee-paying entry into teaching. This is delivered at Durham Sixth Form(opens in new tab), giving you the chance to gain daily experience and real insight into the profession.
