Entry requirements
You must demonstrate a strong academic record at A‑level (normally two science A‑levels) or equivalent in relevant subjects, along with a solid degree (usually at least a 2:2), with at least 50 percentage of your degree content in Biology, to be considered academically suitable. In every case, we will evaluate how relevant your degree, other qualifications, and experiences are to your intended teaching subject. You also need to have GCSEs (or equivalents) in Mathematics and English at Grade 4/C or above—if not already obtained, these will be a condition of your offer and equivalency tests will only be accepted from approved providers. Additionally, you must complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before taking up a place, undergo the necessary health and physical capacity checks to ensure you're fit to teach, and agree to abide by the University of Birminghams Code of Professional Conduct and Fitness to Practise.
