Overview
This module brings together the expertise of BPP and Buttercups staff to deliver the comprehensive 30 credit Independent Prescribing module. Highly skilled staff with up-to-date professional knowledge will lead the teaching and learning. Students will be developing their learning in practice, supported by their organisation and their Designated Prescribing Practitioner. It is aimed at experienced practitioners in primary, intermediate or secondary care. Individuals will have identified an area of clinical practice in which they wish to prescribe and should have up-to-date clinical knowledge evidenced by relevant courses, post-graduate qualifications and/or experiential learning. There are five broad themes encompassed through the curriculum: Introduction to the module The journey of prescribing Developing your prescribing skills Holistic prescribing Scope of practice and continuing professional development.
Entry requirements
The entry requirements to study the Independent Prescribing Practice Module are as follows: Student must be a registered Pharmacist currently employed in a healthcare or pharmacy setting Student must have employer support, evidenced in the IPPM Workplace Learning Agreement Student must have identified an area of clinical practice in which they wish to prescribe and should have up-to-date clinical knowledge evidenced by relevant courses, post-graduate qualifications and/or experiential learning.
