Edinburgh Napier University is a public university located in Edinburgh, Scotland. The university was named after John Napier, a 16th-century Scottish mathematician and philosopher.

Edinburgh Napier University has three campuses situated in Merchiston, Craiglockhart, and Sighthill. The university is home to more than 20,000 students hailing from 150 different countries, of whom over 8,000 are international students.
The institute boasts a great reputation for film education in partnership with the Edinburgh College of Art. Edinburgh Napier University offers more than 150 undergraduate programmes, 100 postgraduate programmes, and a wide range of scholarships for international students.
In 2015, the university received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in recognition of its world-renowned contributions to timber engineering, sustainable construction, and wood science—the highest honour in UK higher education. The professor and teachers hold strong links to various leading industries.

History
The roots of the Edinburgh Napier University go back to 1964 with the establishment of Napier Technical College. The name was inspired by Scottish mathematician and philosopher John Napier.
In 1966, it was changed into Napier College of Science and Technology, and in 1974, it merged with Edinburgh College of Commerce and became Napier College of Commerce and Technology.
In 1986, the institute was renamed Napier Polytechnic and officially became Napier University in 1992. In 2009, the university adopted its current name, ‘Edinburgh Napier University.’
