AAA: This course has a UK A Level requirement of AAA. Typically, we would prefer applicants to submit 3 AP tests or class scores. For AP tests/classes we require the following grades: UK A Level requirement A A A to be considered equivalent to AP test scores 5 5 5 or AP class scores of A A A UK A Level requirement A A A to be considered equivalent to GPA 3.2 If advanced entry is not available, we may alternatively offer a student a place to start in year 1. | Please read the information below to find out about our flexible admissions requirements including our Standardised Testing policy. Please note, you do not need to have achieved your test scores or class grades before you apply. We are able to make ‘conditional offers' where the test score or final grade is pending. If you are studying outside the US we can only accept standardized test scores. We cannot accept honors classes or dual enrolment classes. High School Graduation Certificate: We do not ask for a minimum GPA as part of our admissions requirements, however we may ask to see a copy of your High School Graduation Certificate when processing your visa paperwork (if applicable). AP Tests: Please note: We do not accept AP Research or AP Seminar We consider each AP Test individually this includes Calculus AB and BC, Physics 1 and 2, Physics C Electricity & Magnetism and Mechanics. In place of each AP test/class we may accept alternative tests/classes. Please see below for more information. SAT/ACT: It is not mandatory to take either the SAT or ACT for admission to Newcastle University. However, if you have taken either test we may accept this in place of one AP test. In order to do so you must have scored at least: 650 in both parts of the SAT to be considered equivalent to AP test/class with a score of 4/B 700 in both parts of the SAT to be considered equivalent to AP test/class with a score of 5/A ACT with a composite score of 26 to be considered equivalent to AP test/class with a score of 4/B ACT with a composite score of 28 to be considered equivalent to AP test/class with a score of 5/A Please note you cannot superscore your test scores and you can only submit either the SAT or ACT not both. Other types of advanced classes: In place of an AP test we may also consider: Honors classes Dual enrolment classes In the above classes we would consider: B in Honors class/Dual enrolment class = AP test/class with a score of 4/B A in Honors class/Dual enrolment class = AP test/class with a score of 5/A For Honors classes we would only accept the most challenging class available. For example, if French 1, 2 and 3 offered we would only accept the grade for French 3. We may ask you to provide information about why you are unable to take 3 AP tests/classes (or 2 AP tests/classes plus SAT/ACT). On a case-by-case basis we may also accept your overall high school GPA in place of 1 AP test/class. In this instance you would then only be required to submit 2 advanced classes (AP, ACT/SAT, honors, dual enrolment). In order for us to assess your application please provide the following documents for consideration: An up-to-date copy of your US High School transcript A copy of your school's profile We may also ask for more information regarding the curriculum you have studied to ensure it is comparable to an AP course in a similar subject. We would require official versions of documents before you were able to apply for your visa and/or enrol on your chosen course.
