The stipend is £2,000 for three academic years. There is one Organ scholarship, offering a stipend of £3,000 for three academic years.

Eligibility

The scholarships are open to both those applying to begin their studies at St Mary’s in 2027, as well as to current undergraduate and postgraduate students. There are four choral scholarships and one organ scholarship. The choral scholarships offer funding for a Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. The stipend is £2,000 for three academic years. There is one Organ scholarship, offering a stipend of £3,000 for three academic years. St Mary’s offers a lively academic community and a warm and welcoming environment to pursue both your academic and musical passions. You may be a student who sings in a choir, or with experience leading or assisting with liturgy in your church. As a St Mary’s Choral Scholar or Organ scholar, you will have the opportunity to pursue your love of music alongside your undergraduate studies in an arts or humanities or theological discipline. In the first instance, students will be eligible for the choral and organ scholarships if they apply to study: BA Acting BA Creative Production BA Creative and Professional Writing BA English Literature BA Film Making BA Film Studies BA History BA Liberal Arts BA Theology, Religion and Ethics BA Theological Studies BA Theological Studies with CertHE Philosophy As a choral scholar you will be part of expanding the musical legacy of St Mary’s, taking part in music for weekday Mass, Carol services and outreach activities and expanding the experience of spiritual life of St Mary’s students across the University. As an organ scholar you will be the first to play on the newly-restored organ in St Mary’s University Chapel, with an opportunity to direct the musical development of the Mass and other liturgical events as part of the expansion of musical events across the University.

Eligibility

If you are a student joining the PGCE secondary programme you may be eligible for a Government training bursary or scholarship. The bursary/scholarship amount is based on the highest previous qualification that you have attained to date. For PGCE Secondary Science (Physics) and PGCE Secondary Modern Foreign Languages, the bursaries and scholarships are available to all students regardless of fee status. For all other PGCE secondary subjects, only trainees who are entitled to support under the student finance criteria will be eligible for a scholarship or bursary. Students will only be eligible for a government bursary if they expect to seek a teaching post in England on successful completion of their training course. Overseas degrees Students with an overseas degree may be eligible for a bursary if their degree is equivalent to a UK honours degree with class 2:2 or higher, a UK Master’s degree or a PhD. We will use UK ENIC to assess equivalencies. The Get into Teaching website can help students obtain a free statement of comparability from UK ENIC. For September 2026, the subjects eligible for bursary are: Biology: £5,000 Chemistry: £29,000 Computing: £29,000 Design and technology: £20,000 Geography: £5,000 Languages: £20,000 Maths: £29,000 Physics: £29,000. Other eligibility requirements Our sports scholarships include a wide range of support services that enable athletes to successfully train, compete, and study in a performance environment. With financial support and a comprehensive support service package, including strength and conditioning and rehabilitation services, the scholarship programme can be tailored to your needs. The scholarships range in value up to £2,000 and are open to all St Mary’s students, regardless of year or programme of study. Gold scholarship - for athletes typically competing at senior international level. Silver scholarship - for athletes typically competing at a minimum of national or junior international level (or equivalent).
