Overview
This degree has been designed specifically for teaching assistants and those undertaking a support role within educational settings, and has a strong emphasis on employability, allowing you to put your learning into practice. It builds on your existing professional skills and competencies, giving you an in-depth understanding of educational provision for children aged 3-11 years within primary settings as well as children with special educational needs. After graduating, you may choose to apply for an Initial Teacher Training course or move into another career working with young people. This work-based course offers opportunities to study through blended learning in which 60% is online and 40% on campus, attending Saturday study days (six per academic year). As one of the largest providers of teacher education in the eastern region, we have well-established partnerships with more than 500 schools and other associated organisations, including lead training partnership agreements for closer collaborations. We also benefit from regular, on-going collaboration with the local education authorities for Bedford and Central Bedfordshire. This extensive network puts us at the forefront of educational developments.
