Overview

Electrical engineers design, build and maintain the systems that power modern life – from renewable-energy technologies and smart-grid infrastructure to industrial machines, drives and high-voltage networks. This degree provides a strong grounding in electrical engineering fundamentals while allowing you to specialise in power systems, electrical supply and transmission, renewable-energy generation, and the operation and control of motors and generators. You will develop analytical, design and problem-solving skills through a mixture of lectures, tutorials and hands-on laboratory activity. All teaching is delivered face-to-face, with access to specialist facilities including our dedicated Power Systems Laboratory. Throughout the course you will apply theory to real engineering challenges, supported by staff with expertise in machines, power systems and sustainable-energy technologies. Optional industry visits and guest speakers from the sector help prepare you for a rewarding career in the rapidly evolving electrical-energy landscape.
