Overview
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) pre-sessional courses are available for prospective postgraduate students. These courses improve your English language and academic study skills. You can apply online for our year-long (September entry) or 8-month (January entry) programme. We also offer 4-, 6- and 12-week courses which you can find out more about in our English language section. In addition to classes, you'll be given an opportunity to immerse yourself in Edinburgh and Scotland’s culture through visits to tourist attractions and historic sites. We'll also provide you with practical help to settle into life in a new city. Pre-sessional courses are designed to suit a range of abilities.
Entry requirements
What are the entry requirements for English as a Foreign Language? Our entry requirements indicate both Standard and Minimum qualifications with which we normally accept students. Competition for places varies from year to year and you aren't guaranteed a place if you meet the minimum qualifications. IELTS 4.0, with no skill below 4.0.
