Course aim This course provides an in-depth understanding of governance systems and strategic business planning within the housing sector. It is ideal for professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge in this area, whether they are already in, or aspiring to, senior management roles in housing organisations. The course blends theory with practice to prepare participants for leadership responsibilities in governance, financial planning, and strategic decision-making. Course content This CPD will be delivered face to face bringing together people who work in the housing sector allowing discussion within sessions that integrate the knowledge and understanding from different roles helping create an understanding of the totality of the governance and strategic planning of an housing organisation. This course aims to: Develop advanced knowledge of legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks shaping housing organisations. Enhance strategic planning competencies, including financial forecasting, risk management, and performance alignment. Examine the evolving role of tenants, communities, and stakeholders in shaping housing governance. Foster critical analysis and innovation in strategic decision-making. Prepare learners for leadership roles in housing by combining theoretical insight with practical application. Completing this CPD enhances your ability to take on senior leadership roles in housing governance and strategic management. The skills developed are directly relevant to positions such as Head of Governance, Director of Strategy, or Board-level leadership roles. Successful completion also provides progression opportunities to the MSc Housing programme. Teaching and learning This CPD comprises a single 30-credit Level 7 module, delivered on campus over 12 weeks and supported by additional material on the University Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas). It is designed to equip housing professionals with strategic and governance-related expertise and can contribute to the MSc Housing programme through articulated progression. The programme uses lectures, workshops, case studies, and simulations to develop advanced strategic and governance capabilities.
