Course Overview: Discover the power of words and unlock your creativity with our Creative Writing degree. Develop a close understanding of texts as both a reader and writer and explore writing across a range of genres, forms and media, from the traditional to the experimental. We offer an exciting range of modules, focusing on novels, short fiction, creative non-fiction, flash fiction, hybrid forms, podcasting and poetry, writing for stage and screen, as well as the challenge of working with AI in professional and creative contexts. You will also develop knowledge of the publishing industry and of the ways in which texts are produced, marketed and distributed. From the outset, on our Creative Writing degree, you will be encouraged to build your professional network and play an active role in our creative community. This enables you to draw inspiration and learn lessons from both past and current established practitioners. There are lots of opportunities to extend your creativity outside of the classroom. This includes student-run readings and discussion groups. Bangor’s vibrant local arts and culture scene includes a local theatre, cinema and there are poetry groups who host events across the city. This exciting opportunity allows you to spend a year working with a self-sourced, professional organisation relevant to your studies.
