Overview
Our well-established MA Education offers three pathways so you can tailor your studies to your interests and career goals: a general pathway, Teaching and Learning, and Culture and Diversity. The course is designed for those who are teaching or spending a significant part of each week supporting teaching and learning. It aims to have a direct impact on your practice, extending your understanding of teaching theory and supporting you to become a more rounded, reflective practitioner. Across all pathways, the course focuses on the key educational processes that underpin learning, teaching and the positive management of change. You will develop your understanding of current policy, theory and research, and consider how these relate to your day-to-day context. You will enhance your ability to analyse, critique and develop your own and others’ practice, while building your intellectual, organisational and professional skills. Research skills are incorporated into all modules. If you wish to deepen your school-based experience, you can choose to study the MA Education (with School Placement) on any of the three pathways, undertaking a term-long placement in one of our partner schools, supported by a school mentor and university tutor. Tailored to your professional commitments, on-campus teaching is delivered in the evenings: typically once per week for part-time students and twice per week for full-time students. MA Education This pathway provides you with an overview of the major issues in education enabling you to develop your expertise in identifying and inquiring different issues to promote positive change and transform how teachers/instructors teach, and students learn in different instructional settings. MA Education (Teaching and Learning) By choosing this pathway, your module concentration will consider situations emerging within an instructional setting either formal or informal. You will learn how theory translates into practice and how practice develops theory,
