Overview

Fine Art is a space for creativity, experimentation and persistence. It’s about pushing ideas, testing materials and finding your own artistic territory. On this course you’ll work independently but also side by side with peers and staff, challenging and supporting each other. We’re a small, studio-based course with a strong DIY ethos. You’ll learn through repetition, by making and remaking, and through the hard work of trying things out. The studio is more than just walls, it’s a place of community where everyone knows each other and where curiosity and risk-taking are encouraged. We offer a wealth of facilities and expertise to support that process; include painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video and printmaking. You’ll also have access to digital processes such as 3D scanning, alongside traditional methods like bronze casting and darkroom photography. These facilities, and the skilled staff who run them, give you the chance to really dig into materials and approaches, to extend your skills and to open up new directions for your work. Throughout the course you’ll also have opportunities to share your practice – in exhibitions, projects and our annual student-led auction, experiences that build ambition, teamwork and confidence. If you put in the work, you’ll come away with the tools and knowledge to shape your own path. The resilience and independence you build here will help you push forward, wherever you decide to take your practice next. Book for an open day
