We have created this programme to support Wales-domiciled students who have the talent, drive, and potential to become doctors, but circumstances have prevented direct entry into the five-year Medicine degree. This pathway gives you a real opportunity to begin your medical journey. Across the UK, and especially in North Wales, there is a growing need for more doctors. Bangor University is committed to opening the door to medical training for capable students who may have faced barriers and come from widening-access backgrounds. We believe that people with lived experience of these challenges bring valuable skills, insight, and resilience to the future of healthcare and patients. We actively welcome applications from students whose first language is Welsh. Choose this pathway if you: · Live in Wales · Are committed to becoming a doctor · Meet widening-access criteria · Have the motivation and personal qualities needed for medical training · Have two or more science A Levels At the core of this Gateway Year is a supportive approach, but if having completed this year you don't meet the progression requirements for the medical degree, there are still other options open to you within the medical school. You’ll also receive personalised careers support and guidance, and providing you meet the entry criteria, you’ll have the opportunity to move into other exciting degrees within the School - such as Biomedical Science, Medical Science, Pharmacology, or Pharmacy. Take your first step toward becoming a medical doctor. If you are passionate about medicine, ready to work hard, and looking for a supportive environment that understands your journey, this programme is your opportunity to begin.
