Overview
At Leicester Law School, our research-led teaching is delivered through lectures, tutorials and seminars. In small group tutorials of around twelve to fifteen students, you’ll receive individual support to make sure you have fully understood the topic. You can broaden your perspective with an optional year studying overseas, or make a difference by giving free legal advice to real clients and communities through our Pro-Bono group. We will encourage you to build practical skills through our award-winning extracurricular activities. The Law LLB is the traditional route into the legal profession and gives you the freedom to explore the areas of law that most interest you with a wide variety of optional modules. It is an excellent stepping-stone to graduate level employment as a thought-provoking and challenging subject, giving you legal knowledge and transferable skills such as reasoning, research and problem solving. Your study will take a variety of approaches, including problem-solving, analysis of cases and statutes, examining the role of law within its social, economic and political context. The foundation subjects that you will study are required by the Bar Standards Board for progression to a bar course after your degree. They are also helpful as preparation for future qualification as a solicitor through the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s Solicitors Qualifying Exam. The Leicester Law School LLB includes the modules required for the National Committee on Accreditation’s approved qualification routes for students who study an LLB outside of Canada. Choosing to study the route to the LLB which includes Canadian law modules will help you prepare for the NCA’s exams. Throughout the course you will study the core branches of law with freedom to choose your modules from a broad list of specialist areas. This will broaden your understanding of the legal system, and help you make an informed decision about which area of law you might wish to pursue after graduatio
