Overview
The University of Leicester is a top-notch public research university located in Leicester, England, UK, with its main campus situated a mile away from the south of the city centre and pretty close to Victoria Park.
Extended Overview
The University of Leicester is a university of discovery and innovation. It is pretty famous for inventing genetic fingerprinting and funding the discovery and DNA identification of King Richard III.
The university would be an ideal choice for international students, as they’ll be surrounded by 20,000 students from 100 countries, of which more than 4,500 are international students.
It offers more than 18 foundation courses, 155 undergraduate courses, and 131 postgraduate courses, where any student will find something of their preference.
The university holds a noble purpose, as the site was donated by a local businessman called Thoman Fielding Johnson to create a memorial for all the natives who made sacrifices during the First World War.
Some interesting facts are that the university buildings were used as a military hospital during the First World War, and the College House was the early home of David and Richard Attenborough.
The university is a shark when it comes to research, as the Department of Physics and Astronomy organises Europe’s largest university-based space research facility, and the researchers have taken part in major international space missions, including the Mars Rover and James Webb Space Telescope projects.
