Overview

Become an agile, culturally informed and highly creative media professional When does a meme become a movement? How can short-form creators exist in a world that bans TikTok? Through Media Production BA (Hons), you’ll learn to analyse contemporary trends, issues and cultural talking points in the media, all while building a highly practical skillset gearing towards short-form content, content for the web, social media, general multimedia production. This isn’t just about earning a degree; this is about learning to thrive in an ever-changing online space. Under the guidance and mentorship of accomplished media professionals and academics, you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of practical skills in videography, photography, sound design, editing and content production that you will apply across a broad range of projects. Our course is built with employability in mind, allowing you to harness your creativity in a way that leads to professional success. From understanding different workflows and licensing your work as a freelancer, to pitching/presenting ideas and collaborating with fellow creatives across Acting for Stage and Screen, and Film and Television Practice, this is where you build the skills employers are looking for. Studying on our central London campus puts you in the heart of the action, with close links to major media companies, ground-breaking start-ups and global cultural institutions. You’ll benefit from regular field trips which have included visits to Delane Lee and the National Portrait Gallery in the past. You’ll also get the opportunity to study abroad, broadening your horizons and cultural understanding, all while building experience at an international level. At the core of your studies will be the audience themselves; how to work with different demographics, how to properly conduct audience research and how to correctly read analytics and statistics, among other key skills that help you understand not just how but why. The best media professionals are the ones who fully understand their audience and know exactly how to speak to them, and with our help you’ll learn to do just that. Study on an agile programme that gives you the up-to-date skills and cultural literacy needed to work across the music industry, filmmaking, documentary filmmaking, branding and advertising, the sports industry, social media creation, digital marketing, photography, videography, sound design, editing, and almost any kind of creative role you can think of.
