Overview
This course is aimed at nursing and allied health professionals providing universal, targeted and specialist palliative care in primary, community or secondary care services as well as those caring for people living with life limiting illnesses across the age spectrum. It provides you with the opportunity to consolidate and enhance your knowledge and understanding of the philosophy, principles and practices of palliative and end of life care. Throughout your studies, emphasis will be placed on person-centred, holistic assessment and the development of muti-professional, multi-agency care and management plans from which optimum and evidence-based palliative and end of life care can be provided. Legal and ethical issues will also be examined within the context of palliative and end of life care and their implications for practice.
