Multi-disciplinary research with strong NHS and National Institute for Health and Care Research partnerships provides an inspiring environment for postgraduate researchers. TheInstitute of Population Healthconducts internationally acclaimed research and collaborates with communities to understand how biology, behaviour, environment, policies, and technology impact physical and mental health. Research is supported by colleagues working in health and social care, experts by experience and members of the public. We have a long and successful history of research links with NHS services and are extremely well placed to help develop the clinical research expertise of our postgraduate researchers across a range of settings. Our work is theoretically robust, and problem and policy focused. We have a research agenda that’s socially relevant and postgraduate teaching that’s truly research led. TheDepartment of Primary Care and Mental Healthis home to expertise and ongoing research, using both quantitative and qualitative methods, systematic reviews and clinical trials in a variety of community, primary and secondary care contexts. Examples of our current work include the management of musculoskeletal problems and cardiovascular disease in primary and intermediates, as well as the use of orthoptic and vision services. IELTS: 7.0 overall, with no component below 6.0 TOEFL iBT: If you took a TOEFL test on or before 20 January 2026, you’ll need 100 overall, with minimum scores of listening 21, writing 21, reading 21 and speaking 23. If you took a TOEFL test from 21 January 2026 onwards, when a new scoring system was introduced, you’ll need 5 overall, with 4.5 or above in all components. TOEFL Home Edition not accepted.
