Overview
What makes people behave in certain ways? What are the mental and physical processes that underlie our actions? How do we perceive and understand things – and what role does the unconscious mind play in our day-to-day lives? This undergraduate Psychology BSc(Hons) degree provides valuable insight into the nature of human behaviour, answering all these questions and more. It gives you the opportunity to gain skills that can be applied to many situations, careers, and further study, combined with the flexibility to explore a wide range of topics relating to mental processes and social behaviours. These include perception, cognition, emotions, motivation, personality and interpersonal relationships. You’ll also look at current and sometimes controversial issues by examining case studies. In Yorkshire and the Humber, we’ve ranked 4th for Psychology in the Guardian League Tables 2026. Also, in the National Student Survey 2025, Psychology is ranked top in Yorkshire for learning resources, assessment, and feedback (psychology (non-specific)). During the course, you’ll be encouraged to think and apply your knowledge, looking at how psychological theories apply in the real-world.
