Overview
This PGCE course develops your subject-specific knowledge and practical teaching skills in areas such as collaborative learning, design ideation and problem-solving activities. You explore the philosophies underpinning design and technology as well as building your understanding of professional issues; the design and technology curriculum; and current educational foci including decolonising the subject, disruptive technologies and sustainability. The course’s hands-on approach allows you to put your skills into practice in the classroom, with the guidance of an expert or lead mentor who is a subject specialist. There is the option to take this course part-time over two years, making it easier to balance study with your other commitments.
