Overview
Our Practice Educator Stage 2 course builds on the knowledge and skills developed in Stage 1 and is designed for practitioners who are ready to take full responsibility for the teaching, supervision, and assessment of social work students. It deepens participants’ ability to apply the BASW Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) at a more advanced level, with a strong focus on professional judgement, evidence-informed assessment, and the ability to manage increasingly complex learning situations. The course strengthens confidence in working with a wide range of learners, supporting progression, and making robust assessment decisions that stand up to scrutiny. It also develops the educator’s capacity to integrate theory, research, and reflective practice into supervision, while contributing to quality assurance processes that uphold high standards in practice learning. There are many reasons that we see practice education as being beneficial to social work practice. The practice learning team has been working in social work for many years and so here are some of our key reasons… The course is delivered at our Bedford Campus, offering a professional learning environment supported by a range of academic and student services. You'll have access to teaching spaces suitable for lectures, seminars, skills development sessions and group learning activities. In addition, the University provides extensive learning support facilities, including the Study Hub for academic skills development, specialist student support services, a Student Information Desk for administrative queries, and access to experienced academic staff who support learning throughout the course.
