Overview
This module can be taken as a stand-alone module, or the credits can be put towards the MA in Advanced Social Work. It is possible to exit from the MA in Advanced Social Work with a Post Graduate Certificate (60 credits) or Post Graduate Diploma (120 credits) should it not be possible to complete the full MA. Applications are open to social workers with at least one year’s post-qualified experience. The module builds on learning from the Assessed and Support Year in Employment. The module is open to practitioners within Adult Social Work settings. The module examines practice within adult social care law and policy. It looks at the broad area of social work with adults, the Care Act 2014 and related policies, practice and research. The structure of the module follows the nine domains of the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) for Social Work and enables learners to evidence the PCF at the level of a Qualified/Experienced Social Worker. The module builds on the Chief Social Worker for Adults’ (DH 2015) Knowledge and Skills Statement for Social Workers in Adult Services and enables learners to further develop knowledge and skills needed to effectively contribute to delivering statutory health, social care and wellbeing outcomes for individuals and their carers.
