Overview
This module can be taken as a stand lone module or the credits can be put towards the MA in Advanced Social Work. It is possible to exit from the MA in Advance Social Work with a Post Graduate Certificate (60 credits) or Post Graduate Diploma (120 credits). Applications are open to newly qualified social workers who start their ASYE period in the summer/autumn of 2024. There is another module (SWK 7030X) for those who start their ASYE later in 2024. Please seek advice from your Workforce Development lead or the module leader if you are not sure. The ASYE scheme is designed to help you as a newly qualified social worker (NQSW) to develop your skills, knowledge and capability and strengthen your professional confidence. It offers you regular and focused support through this first year of employment. As an NQSW you will work towards a 40 credit Masters module alongside your day to day practice as a new worker. The ASYE programme and module fit with the requirements of the Professional Capabilities Framework for social work and the Knowledge and Skills statements. You will be linked to an agency based supervisor/assessor, who will be a qualified social worker, and receive support for your development from your employer. You will also receive a UEA on-line workbook including detailed guidance, reading and learning activities. There will also be two and a half seminar days led by UEA staff and you will have access to on-line resources via Blackboard and the library.
