Leicester Cathedral offers three Choral Scholarships of £1,000 each year to University of Leicester students (undergraduates or postgraduates).

Eligibility

Other eligibility requirements Leicester Cathedral offers three Choral Scholarships of £1,000 each year to our Citizens of Change (undergraduates or postgraduates). Priority is given to students who sing alto (male or female), tenor or bass, but in the absence of suitable candidates in these voice parts, it may be possible to award a scholarship to a soprano. You should have experience of singing in choirs. Experience of singing in a church or cathedral choir is beneficial but not as important as strong sight-reading ability. You should apply before starting at University, although unfilled scholarships may be allocated after the start of the academic year. Scholarships are for one year in the first instance and are usually extended for a further two, given a satisfactory report by the Director of Music to the Dean and Chapter and a willingness on the student's part to continue.

Eligibility

Other eligibility requirements You can apply for a DL Sanctuary Award if you hold an academic offer to study (or are waiting for a decision) and have at any time been forcibly displaced from your home and forced to seek sanctuary elsewhere. Eligible applicants may be based anywhere in the world and be refugees, people seeking asylum and people who have been internally displaced and/or who are at risk of political persecution, violence or conflict. If you have a background of forced displacement and believe you are eligible, please apply, and we will consider your application on a case-by-case basis. You may have always aspired to study at university but faced obstacles in achieving your goal. We understand that your studies may have been interrupted, that you might not have evidence of your previous qualifications or that your qualifications aren't transferable. You also may not have evidence of your English language abilities and may need support obtaining this. The DL Sanctuary Award is designed to accommodate these factors, so don’t let these stop you from applying. Please note that we prioritise those applicants with the greatest need, and who are facing the greatest barriers to continuing their education. For example, if you are in the UK and able to access Student Finance, we would not prioritise your application. Please use your personal statement to fully outline these barriers.
