The university’s main campus is located on Stag Hill, just a short distance from Guildford's town centre and next to Guildford Cathedral. Surrey Sports Park can be found at the nearby Manor Park, the university’s secondary campus.

History

The history of the University of Surrey can be traced back to 1891 with the establishment of the Battersea Polytechnic Institute. This university admitted its first students in 1894.

In 1956, the institute got the designation "College of Advanced Technology" and was changed to Battersea College of Technology. In 1966, the institute got its university status and became what it is today.
