Overview
This part-time course is designed for nurses working in anaesthetic settings and aims to improve practice in the operating department. It focuses on learning that is directly relevant to real clinical work, using your own experiences alongside teaching from academic staff. You’ll develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge through interactive methods such as problem-based learning, case studies, and the use of the University’s high-tech simulation suite, which allows you to practise and build confidence in a safe, controlled environment before applying these skills in clinical settings. The course equally values university and placement learning, helping you develop confidence, critical decision-making, and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting. You’ll also be supported by mentors and tutors throughout, encouraging reflection, discussion, and continuous improvement in patient care.
