Scholarship recipients from low to middle-income countries will be expected to return to their country of origin within five years of completing their overseas studies to contribute to addressing plant disease through the advancement of science, agriculture, the economy, and the wider community. Recipients from higher income countries would be expected to address plant disease in low to middle-income countries in some way. To be considered for this scholarship, you need to apply for your place on the MSc in Global Plant Health. Provided you meet the eligibility criteria and are offered a place on the course after interview, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship, on a competitive basis - no separate application is required at this stage. You will be evaluated for the scholarship based on the same criteria used to evaluate your application to enrol on the course. The criteria are: academic achievement and academic awards together with knowledge/experience/potential of molecular biology, genetics, molecular interactions, data science such as bioinformatics and statistics, laboratory skills, and independent study. In addition, eligible applicants with an offer of a place on the course will then be required to provide a written statement of intent detailing a credible plan either to return to their low to middle-income country of origin to address plant disease or, for higher income country applicants, to address plant disease in low to middle-income countries in some way.

Total Value: £3,000; Annual Value: £1,000

Eligibility

Other eligibility requirements UEA awards a number of Music Scholarships every year, to new students who show exceptional musical achievement and commitment. The scholarships are for musicians of any instrument or voice and any style or tradition – including different national traditions. They are intended to encourage recipients to develop their musical and leadership skills and contribute significantly to music at UEA. A high standard of performance is expected, but equally important is a clear commitment to take leading roles in the musical life of the University. Application is before entry to UEA. The awards are worth £3,000, paid across three years of study. Scholars receive £500 twice a year — in October and February — during Years 1, 2 and 3, with payments made directly into their nominated bank account. Requirements No qualifications need to have been taken. A high standard of performance can be demonstrated at audition. In the case of a musician performing in a style or tradition without a formal method of assessment this is particularly important. For those used to the graded exam system it may be useful to say that a performing standard of Grade 8 and above is a benchmark. Neither Grade 8 nor any other exam need either have been taken or passed.
