Overview

The University of Kent is one of the most renowned public research universities in the UK. It lies in the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury, which is in Kent, England. For more than 59 years, the university has been a lighthouse for high-quality education.

Extended Overview

The University of Kent is a university of ambition. Founded in 1965, the university started its journey with only 500 students and 150 staff, and now it boasts a wide community of more than 19,000 students and 3,000 staff. It would be an excellent choice for international students, as desire meets determination in this institute.

This university has everything that a student can desire: a wide community of international students, a vibrant life, a huge campus, advanced research facilities, and a student-friendly environment. There are more than 95 undergraduate and 240 postgraduate courses available for students, where any student will find their preferred course.

The university has two campuses, both in Kent. One is in Canterbury, and another one is in Medway. The Canterbury campus is home to the majority of the courses and covers a huge parkland of 300 acres. Any international student will feel like home as all the campuses are filled with students hailing from 158 different countries.

Mission Statement

The University of Kent clearly states that by 2025, they aim to deliver one of the best education and student experiences amongst UK universities that will enable and inspire their students. Their vision is built on five pillars. These are:

  1. A ‘dual intensity’ university, grounded in place
  2. Education focused on individual needs
  3. Embracing partnerships
  4. Digital transformation
  5. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

History

The University of Kent started its journey as The University of Kent at Canterbury with the very first group of 500 students in 1965. It was granted its royal charter in that year as well. In 1966, Princess Marina (Duchess of Kent) became the first chancellor of the university.

It has seen its fair share of growth in the 1960s. During the 1990s and 2000s, the university extended its original camps and formed campuses in Medway, Tonbridge, and Brussels. In 2003, the name of the university was finally changed to University of Kent.

Accreditation

The University of Kent holds accreditation from many esteemed professional bodies. Only 1% of business schools worldwide have achieved the 'triple crown' of EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA accreditation, and Kent Business School is one of them. Some of them are:
